"Our opposition to the West should not mean its total and generic rejection. It should entail our rejection only of its colonial-ideological formations. Thus when we reject its machines and technology, this should not mean that we reject the intellectual process that produced these machines. It should mean only that we oppose the way this technology is dumped on us, the way it turns us into mere consumers, the way it turns our country into a large flea-market." -Adonis

I finally located the new Rasputina album! The Deluxe Edition, even! ...In Borders!

*happy dance*

I do find it strange that I almost like the bonus CD more than the actual album, though.

is. awesome.

I'm taking care of the Kenny/Alex/Atticus pad and it's been interesting. Atticus = cat. He is freaking INSANE. But there is something fun about being able to roll out of bed and go to class.

It's okay to invade other countries and occupy them indefinitely, but heaven forbid other people illegally reside here.

I had the hottest bathroom experience during debate practice today. [13 Feb 2007|12:48am]
[ mood | amused ]

First, an explanation of the set up of this bathroom: you enter and there is a short hall with a dressing/primping area to the left and then a door leading to toilets on the right.

Right then.

So all innocent-like, I walk in and to my surprise, hear extremely loud orgasm noises coming from the dressing room thing. I was in some strange state of shock, confusion, and excitement when I realized either someone was literally being sexed up by a god or faking it really badly (by which I mean sexily, yet clearly over the top). Turns out they were rehersing for a play (but that didn't stop them from being embarrassed when, gasp, a random civilian decided to use the public bathrooms in the student union!).

It would have all been disappointing, but I think I'm going to use "Fake, All-Female Orgies In The Bathroom" as yet another reason why the women's restrooms are superior to the men's.

Poli sci midterm [09 Feb 2007|01:29pm]
[ mood | nervous ]

Well, I have weird feelings about it. I don't think I completely bombed, but I definitely didn't kick maximum amounts of ass.

Now that that is over, I can actually focus on Western States prep pretty much full time... while taking a break to read for classes and hang with my honors cohorts, of course. :)

In other news, "Anna Nicole Smith: What's up with that?!"

Oh, I also had a near-death experience yesterday when Dana decided to drop a tub of bad federalism evidence ... NEAR MY FACE.

Well, it was sort of near my face, anyway.

Goddamn midterms [06 Feb 2007|01:58am]
So I pretty much did homework all day. And I'll be doing homework all tomorrow (Freaking honors paper. It is contributing to the ruining my life, I swear.). Did a bunch of research for Kelly's briefing area (BWA HAH HAH HAH. Aceh = <3). Typed notes for a girl in my class and freaked out because it was like 7 pages... IN DEBATE SHORTHAND. Oops. I hope the vaguely translated version made sense to her. If not, it's pretty much straight from the book anyway...

Dana and I finally finished neg strat crapola for Western States. WHEE.

Oh, had another "I should be a philosophy major!" attack in honors today. I think it's probably just because we're reading St. Augustine, but still. I have this thing with philosophy classes where I'll try to pay attention so I can flesh out debate arguments, and then automatically feel guilty for doing so. This doesn't really happen in other classes (esp. not Arabic, for obvious reasons. Unless I have to debate about Arabic grammar someday. It'll happen, just you wait!). I'm not totally sure why this only seems to happen in philo/philo-esque classes, but it does. It's like I start connecting with whomever it is I'm reading/studying and start feeling weird for wanting to use their arguments as a weapon in a debate round where the little details of their argument will just be ignored. I suspect this has a lot to do with why I'm not a kritikal debater despite liking philosophy so much. I'd just feel sad pulling a bunch of quotes out of context and/or brushing over the details just to conform it to whatever K/DA/etc I need just so I can win. I also dislike reading philosophy for the sake of finding debate arguments because I feel like in my haste to do so, I'll miss some really important/interesting shit that isn't necessarily super obvious or just doesn't relate to the debate resolution.

I dunno.

Ignore my terrible sentence structures. I'm tired. Jerks.
